Easy Taco Bake

I am always searching around for easy recipes when I dinner plan.

I look for recipes that are quick and don't need 100 ingredient. I came across this recipe. It looked quick, easy and cheesy!

1 lb ground beef
1 packet taco seasoning
1/3 cup queso
1 cup cheese
3 large flour tortillas

Brown the meat.
Drain grease
add taco seasoning as directed on packet
add queso and stir
Layer pan- tortillas meat mixture, 1/3 of the shredded cheese.
repeat for 3 layers

bake at 350 for 15-20 minutes

I had some left over refried beans in the fridge from dinner the other night so i added a layer of beans on top of each tortilla.

After looking it over....

...and tasting it.... I got the okay from Mason

Austin, who rarely comments on dinner, also sent me a text from work saying dinner was delicious.

B/O

For those of you who don't know, that stands for blighted ovum.

Two weeks ago we went in for our first prenatal visit with Kathy, our midwife. As I laid on the table cold and anxious, I wanted nothing more than to hear the heartbeat of our little baby. This pregnancy had felt so different than Mas'. I hadn't been sick once and it was hard to believe I was almost out of my first trimester.

After 5 minutes of wiggling around and changing positions there was still no heartbeat to be found. Kathy suggested we go in for an sonogram the next day just to make sure everything was okay. Many reasons arose why we couldn't find the heartbeat. I had just emptied my bladder, maybe the baby was in a weird position or I was possibly not as far along as I thought.

The next morning I filled my bladder and we headed to the sonogram. Again I sat cold and anxious as the lady painfully pressed all over my belly. We sat quietly for about 15 minutes before she told me to go empty my bladder and she was going to try a transvaginal ultrasound. Not knowing what was going on I used the restroom and hurried back in.

Another silent 15 minutes went by. She then told me to clean myself off and she would be back to talk to me. It seemed like instantly Austin and I knew the baby was not healthy.

I had experienced a blighted ovum or "missed miscarriage."

The sperm had attached to the egg but only 2 of the 3 next parts took place; a sac and placenta were formed but the embryo did not. There was nothing more than an empty sac. They don't know much on the causes of this other than the body detects something is wrong and tries to stop pregnancy immediately.

My body hadn't realized there was no baby yet so the only options were to let it naturally catch on and go through a miscarriage process or have a d&c. Kathy recommended letting my body take care of it myself and I agreed.

This weekend my body realized what was going on and I went through a mild labor (about 24 hours of constant cramping/contraction like pain) and the passing of an empty sac and placenta.

I write this today because the physical part is over and now it just a matter of emotional healing. I haven't told many what I am going through and instead of replying to single text, phone calls and facebook post on how pregnancy is going I felt it better, for me, to let everyone know.

My sister in law wrote me this verse:
"Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted" Matthew 5:4

Thank you to all my awesome friends and family who have been there for me so far. You have been a blessing in encouraging me, lifting me up and listening.

Color Run

I am a terrible blogger and that is why I am just getting to posting this... 18 days later.

Most of the crew decided to head up to Kansas City for the Color Run this year. At first we were going to skip it because of the drive and cost but as it neared we saw so many fun photos and articles about it we signed up last minute to run it (the day after we were already signed up for another race!)

This is what we looked like before the run

You wear white, and the sweet headband they give you, and run a 5k. At each kilometer they throw powdered paint on you.

When we hit the first color station everyone was yelling and throwing up their arms so we did too, we quickly learned that was a mistake as we inhaled powdered and about died

 This is us after.

At the end everyone is given a color packet and every 10 minutes they have a  color throw? where everyone throws around their color and you participate in rave like behavior dancing through it

Definitely a super fun time and I can't wait to do it again!

We got a puppy

Austin has been bugging me forever to get a new puppy. He really wanted to get one while Mas was still little so they could grow up together.

I am not a dog person nor did I want to deal with training a pup while having the craziness of a one year old.

After Amber attacked Rockie, we gave her to a guy who had a home for her. This guy called awhile back and said his dogs had an oops liter and knew Austin was still interested in getting another puppy some day. Long story short we have a pup now.

Her name is Nova

Austin made sure he picked a super calm one and really she isn't too bad. She is pretty lazy and fat still.

I don't love her but I guess I don't hate her.
 She thinks we are friends

Mas likes her, I think. Sometimes he wants nothing to do with her, sometimes he loves petting her and smiling and other times he likes to ram her with his cars and trucks.

I can already tell these 2 are going to be two peas in a pod. Mas likes to dump her water bowl everywhere and she like to drink out of his kiddie pool. He likes to chase her and she likes to chase him.

Oh, and we are WALKING now.
