Crochet-a-thon

The last week has been a mad rush to crochet as many things as I possible can.

My aunt lives in Alaska and runs a children's boutique

I send her items to sell in hershop

Sunday she told me she would be attending a very large craft fair in 2 weeks and if i sent her stuff she was almost sure it would sell. I had a huge tub of yarn that needed used up so I told her I would kick my butt in gear and send her as much as I could. Even though the craft fair still was 2 weeks away, shipping to Alaska takes 4-5 days so I only had a week to get my stuff together and shipped

Every night this week after putting Mason to bed around 7:15 i have spent four hours crocheting. Needless to say I do get distracting here and there but I really worked hard on getting her as much as I could.

not only would it be good Christmas money but I also wanted to help build the craft side of her shop. Her shop sells adorable clothing, toys, diaper covers, knitted goods, and hair accessories. She is super kind to allow me to sell my good there and  even labels each of my products with my etsy shop label.

She sent Mason the cutest suit and tux that I just can't wait to photograph him in, be sure to check back next week for that!!

Homemade Crochet Case

Since I have been crocheting so much lately my little plastic bag that the hooks came in is starting to rip and show wear and tear. I looked up clutches and cases and decided to sew one myself.

I use this simple tutorial and made this adorable case.

It fits all my 7 hooks and I absolutely love it. Total cost to make was 4 bucks! Beats buying one for anywhere from $10-$25.

I love looking through blogs. I spent hours a day looking at everyone's blogging, reading their stories and getting inspiration. I wanted to share some of the things I have been up to lately and how I came about them.

First I noticed that everyone was decorating for Valentine's Day. Normal I don't do too much to decorate for this holiday but after seeing all the neat craft decorations I had to do something. I put up a few around the house just for fun.

Next, after reading kyle's blog on the headband swap who couldn't want some sweet headbands?? I couldn't help but make a few. Kyle your bands rock!!

This one is done using crochet only. I crocheted a single line of half double crochet the size of my head. I then added 3 crochet flowers and buttons. The back is held together by a sewn on button that fits perfectly into a crocheted space :)

Simple headband. Hot glued a piece of vintage ribbon to a piece of elastic. Then added 2 crochet flowers

our days off

Austin had a wonderful 3 days off for Christmas, which never happens. Our weekend of Christmas was pretty packed. We had dinner at the Farris Grandparents house on Christmas Eve. It was nice to see my aunt, uncle and cousins from Kansas City and also my great Granny. Christmas Day we opened presents at home and enjoyed some traditional sticky buns. This was the first year I made them right in 3 years!

Later we went to my mom's for lunch and presents. Following that we stopped by Austin's dad for a few hours before heading to dinner at Austin's mom. The day was jammed packed and we were ready for bed when we got home.

The next day Austin went hunting, big surprise, then we hung out all day in our pajamas and watched movies which we had received for Christmas.

Monday was Austin's final day off before heading back to work. He spent most all of his day in his gaming chair playing his new videos games.

I spent the hours working on crocheting a hat for myself. I have tried a hat before and couldn't seem to get the pattern just right. On my first attempt this time I completed the hat and it actually looked decent!!

As you may recall I taught myself to crochet last winter.

I remember the hours I spent figuring out how to hold the yarn and do the simplest single crochet.

It was a task I thought I wasn't patient enough for.

After a few nights of practice I was able to complete a scarf.

This year I really wanted to improve my skill and get past the scarf project and into things more complicated.

My first project this year was a VERY basic beanie for week old Hunter.
