A Trip Worth Blogging About..

( I am a Cardinal fan)

This Sunday we went up to Kansas City for the Royals vs. Rockies baseball game. Austin is a huge Rockies fan and my parents got him tickets for his Birthday. I, being the good wife that I am, supported the Rockies by wearing a shirt and painting my nails purple.

We started the morning by grabbing some Winchell's because they are the best doughnuts ever!

About 10:15 we were on our way.

We arrived in Kansas City and headed to the stadium

The sun was bright and I even got a little burnt.
The Rockies won 11-7 and Austin's favorite player hit a home run

All in all the day was fun and we can't wait till the next time we get to see a live game

What? You thought this story was going to be more exciting by the title?

Okay, you are right. Lets back up to ..we were on our way. as we drove through Emporia we heard a loud thud like my tire had popped but the car was handling fine. I pulled over and we examined all the tires but found nothing. We looked at the engine and belts, still nothing. Finally as Austin was getting back in the car he saw that one of my tire's tread had been completely ripped off and it was slowly losing air. Not sure how this happened we put on the donut tire and SLOWLY continued to Kansas City. We were 90 miles out when this happened and couldn't drive more that 55-60 mph.
While we were barely pushing 60 mph I had time to snap some photos of all the scenery we saw and don't worry I will share .
Feel free to ohhh and aweWe finally arrived at the game 50 minutes late, luckily they were only in the 3rd inning. After the game was over, about 4 pm, we headed into town to find a new tire. Within 45 minutes we had found 5 tire stores all closed. Our luck was not looking good. We decided we would just stay the night and fix it in the morning. When we realized that nobody was going to help Austin out at work we called in the backup team, My uncle David who lives in Kansas City and my mom. They were able to call around and find an open tire store about 30 miles from where we were. Thanks guys!
We arrived home tired at about 11 and hit the sack.

This trip is definitely one worth remembering. As much of a wreck as it sounds we had a great time.

Next road trip is to St. Louis in October, for another baseball game, might load the trunk with spare tires!

Helping Hands

Whenever I ask Austin to help around the house he is always willing to, unless its home improvements. He also tends to "overlook" when things need done if I do not point them out. This last week I came home to...

an empty clean sink

an empty laundry basket

and upon my request and without any moaning he and his dad put up a new storm door

I guess you can teach an old dog new tricks!

~as a disclaimer I appreciate Austin's hard work and providence for the family, I love him very much and do not expect him to keep the house neat while I am at work. I like house cleaning, it betters my mood when I do it~

That's MY dork

Just when I thought Austin's fishing hobby couldn't get more weird I came home to this.

Not only does he have a fishing vest, 5 poles, a gym bag full of fly tying equipment and more knowledge than anyone I know but now he has a fishing watch. Yep you heard me right a fishing watch.

Apparently this watch does EVERYTHING.

Let me enlightening you on just a few things....

All the normal watch stuff: Alarm, stop watch, time and date

PLUS

~Moon Phase

~Alerts throughout the day when the fish are biting according to your location

I couldn't help but laugh as he sat at the computer figuring out our longitude and latitude to program the watch. As he looked at me and in all seriousness asked if I thought he was a dork I simply responded "Yes, but you are my dork."

Pre Prom

I remember the hype of prom like it wasn't 4 years ago. Wow 4 years already?! Time flies. I remember my Junior prom being the most exciting and nerve wrecking. I was nominated for princess and was thrilled, then I remembered i would have to walk in front of the whole school at the Prom assembly. What a nervous little girl I was. I kept thinking..

I hope I don't fall
I hope my dress doesn't malfunction
I hope they cheer when my name is announced
Do I look okay?

Today, 4 years later, I attended Heights prom assembly. This time my sister walked in front of the whole school, she too has been nominated for princess. I felt the same excitement and worries for her as I felt walking there years before.

She didn't fall
Her dress didn't malfunction
They cheered for her louder than any other nominee
She looked AMAZING!

Prom Pictures to come tomorrow!

What a Steal

I recently finished painting the dining room and was out getting new curtains when my mom and I came across a garage sale. Being as we are we never pass without at least slowing to look. My mom and I are garage sale fools.

There just so happen to be this amazing clock I had to stop and look at.
The lady said it was 15 bucks!
I asked her 2 more times to make sure I was hearing correctly.
They were moving and wanted to get rid of it.
It goes perfect with my new dining room color.

Yep, that was a steal!
